She was terrible! She can not sing like that, so she should not have even tried that mess. Who wants to hear some Catholic opera song at the BET awards?! She is trying to hard to prove she is a real singer and it didn’t work. She should have done a dance performance and sang an upbeat MJ song. What kind of weak tribute was that? It was awful.

Vocally, the performance was amazing. You cannot take away the fact that she has an incredible talent…HOWEVER (and I cap that because I am still ticked off at her), how dare she get up on that stage and not pay a real tribute to Michael Jackson. As talented as she is she could have had the best tribute of the evening! At first I gave her the benefit of the doubt and I thought that maybe she didn’t do a song because she may have been afraid that she would be too emotional to get through it. But, then I saw a video of her at a concert that occurred right before the awards, singing “I Can’t Help It.” And she tore that song up! No excuses B. I am just too disgusted. And I’m not even going to get started on that horrible outfit!!
Vocally that was a complete BORE-This was supposed to be a Michael Jackson Tribute-What was that??? Beyonce is a great performer overall but that tribute and that particular performance for a Michael Jackson Tribute was poorly selected and someone should have told her HECK NO!!-before showtime-HORRIBLE< HORRIBLE<HORRIBLE!!! Singing professionally myself, I happen to know that you must keep the event and the audience in mind when it comes to song selection.

I just wanted to address the Beyonce stans who said that her performace at the BET awards was her doing something “different”. Clearly, you guys have not attended her latest concert. Beyonce’s performance was not changed for Michael. She performs that same Ave Maria/Angel melody in concert with that exact same outfit. She performed in Philly the day after Micahel died, on 6/26/09, and she did that performance but she also sang an MJ song as a direct tribute to him…so no, that God-awful performance was not for Michael…it was a same ol’ tired Beyonce routine, stale as usual :-/
Beynce sung beautifuly! I didn’t agree on her outfit but the song was mourning mj’s death! And it was being respectful! And diffrent instead of doing what people expected her 2 do. That’s what made mj so great cause he was diffrent! So why try 2bring her down for steppin out the box!

The performance on the BET is actually the same thing she does on her tour. It’s rumored Beyonce sung or played Ave Maria at her wedding. Hence the contemporary wedding dress costume. Beyonce changed her performance at the last minute to tribute MJ. MJ died Thursday and Beyonce had a tour show Friday and Saturday on the East Coast. She basically had no time to conjur up a new and original performance. I don’t think her clothing was unappropriate at all. I was always told that the Bible says “Come as you are”. King David danced naked for God and I always thought angels were naked. God would not be displeased with her performance. The uptight Christian people would be. Beyonce’s voice was absolutely beautiful. Best vocal performance of the night. I know she could’ve worn something different but the entire show was a mess anyway.
What does having “pull” and experience have anything to do with time? NONE of the tributes were good. Beyonce had the least time of them all to come up with something. IDK if you know how much time a tour takes, but having two shows back to back leaves you with zero time to do anything. She tributes him at her shows every night so I can look over this rushed performance.

Her performance was so random. It had absolutely NOTHING to do with MJ. It seemed like she stuck with what she was planning on doing pre MJ death. I just don’t understand why she wouldn’t have sang “I can’t hep it” like she did just days before. Her performance was so random and almost insulting. Why is it that when someone states their opinion and someone else disagree’s it’s considerted “hating”? I don’t think anyone is hating on Beyonce. They are just stating their opininon. I must say I was turned off by the outfit because it did not fit the song. My mother saw the outfit and completely went off because it is a religious song and the outfit was just plain wrong.
Why is it that we hold these celebrity’s in such high regard when for the most part they could care less about us? Most don’t sign autographs or stop to a waving fan or take pictures unless it is caught on camera for the world to see.

The song not Spanish, it’s Latin. Ave Maria = Hail Mary, as in, the Catholic prayer. Not to worry, I’m sure Beyonce herself had no clue what she was singing either! Which is why I really think she should have respectfully left the song alone.
