Beyonce Stole If I Were a Boy,From BC Jean? – Fox News writer Roger Friedman published an article today entitled “Beyonce’s ‘Stolen’ New Hit Record” to say that Beyonce stole the song “If I Were a Boy” from a San Diego 21-year-old singer songwriter,named BC Jean.Friedman wrote:
BC Jean is a hot, up-and-coming, 21-year-old female singer songwriter from San Diego. Those who’ve met her says she’s smart and “gorgeous.” But BC (her initials, legend has it, are for “beautiful child”) got a cold dose of reality this summer when it comes to the record business. According to sources, she and her manager/mother have been strong-armed by Beyonce’s people and others who saw gold in “If I Were a Boy” and didn’t care how they got it.
You can hear BC Jean’s version of her own song, written with German pop-factory producer Toby Gad, at www.bcjean.net. It’s certainly as good as Beyonce’s if not better. It’s no wonder that this young woman is now the center of so much attention.
Altogether, I am told, BC Jean wrote and recorded about a dozen songs with Gad for an album the producer was planning to make of his own. When the deal fell apart, Gad — whose 300 plus credits are all co-written, never solo — took the songs and started marketing them to big name, established artists. Gad’s past “collaborators” include Fergie, on “Big Girls Don’t Cry.”
When I wrote about Beyonce’s version of “If I Were a Boy” last week, calls came pouring in from people who knew the real history of this story. BC Jean’s mother/manager, Lori Carlson, told me she couldn’t comment on the situation. But plenty of people knew the saga of Beyonce’s legendary manager/father Mathew Knowles’ aggressive pursuit of the publishing rights to the potential hit record. His goal was to get the rights to the song and to put Beyonce’s name on the writing credits.
Beyonce obviously paid for song ,so FOX is just spilling ink.

When you have not talent like Beyonce then all you do is “pretend” and “claim” to write your own songs while the true artistic people who writes the song doesn’t get the credit they deserve. Music is an art form so she needs to go learn to be a real artist and stop using her body to get by.

i hear both singer’s songs but i think beyounce is as always the best. she sang with heart, soul, guts and she worth all the praise. her versen was strong and can atract any one to listen her again and again. she really is talented. we can read in all net that she paid bc jean or whatever she is.
bt when i listen to bc jean she soulds like teenage gal with no guts to sing and had a very rough voice. she cannot even compare herself with B cuz we all know why. so stop saying that B stole that song. it is famouse and getting good feedback bcuz of her talent to carry that.

I have to agree, that if Beyonce paid for the song then she really didn’t steal the song. I also say that it doesn’t matter who sang it better. Credit should go to B for the way she sang it and credit should go to bc jean for the lyrics that she wrote.

Um, Beyonce’s name isn’t even in the writing credits- Toby Gad and that BC Jean chick’s are. So how exactly did she steal it? Sounds to me like it’s more of a disagreement between Toby Gad and BC Jean. Beyonce said herself that she didn’t write it- most singers don’t write everything they sing. Do your research people!
for one famous ppl dont go to jail they have a lot of money which pays for them to get out of sticky situations like come on now if she stole shes obviously not good enough to write her own music and if she was then would’nt she like no effence beyonce but you may have a lot of money but having your own accomplishment is greater then that. money cant buy true happiness
When has Beyonce ever written any songs? All her good songs were “borrowed” or “stolen” or “remakes”. She’s not creative, she’s not unique, she’s not original, she’s not a real artist.
I think Beyonce version is very “pitchy” at the chorus. As for why someone should care if it was stolen from them as long as it’s a hit: Who likes someone else taking the credit for their work, if that is in fact, what happened.
Actually beyonce did say that she wrote the song she said it in a british interview check out a snippet of it by going on YouTube and typing inbeyonce unoriginal if you didn’t write the song just say so even if she did buy it lt fine but to lie and say that you wrote it that’s just said and the rest of you are pathetic to say that beyonce did the girl a favor seriously you guys are horrible fans you need to care put your fav even when they are wrong the girl did b a favor buy giving her a decnr song to sing something beyonce hasn’t done in a while or ever.
