Booby Brown sat down for his very first interview since the death of his ex-wife Whitney Houston in a Los Angeles hotel in February.

The first part of the interview focusing on Houston will air on Wednesday and the second half where he will open up about his relationship with Bobbi Kristina will be broadcast on Thursday.

The singer started the conversation with Matt Lauer of The Today Show by denying the rumors that he was the one who got the late diva addicted to drugs.

Brown confessed that while he was an occasional user of marijuana and loved alcohol he never did heavy drugs until he met Houston who was already hooked on illegal substances.

The R&B artist said he is not to be blamed for her passing and added:

“I didn’t get high [on narcotics] before I met Whitney. I smoked weed, I drank the beer, but no, I wasn’t the one that got Whitney on drugs at all… drugs were a part of her life “way before” [we] got together. It’s just … it’s just unexplainable how one could, you know, [say that I] got her addicted to drugs. I’m not the reason she’s gone.”

Brown who married Houston in 1993 and divorced in 2007 revealed that he did damage her career, he explained that they loved each other even though the world saw otherwise. He said:

‘It makes me feel terrible. But I know differently. I think if anyone ever knew us, if anybody ever spent time around us instead of time looking through the bubble, they would know how we felt about each other. They would know how happy we were together.’

The star’s children Landon, Bobby Jr, and La’Princia – and his fiancée, Alicia Etheridge will also appear in the interview airing on NBC.
