I think people always want to make excuses for abuses because everyone knows a woman–and they’d always like to sit around and single out the public victims in the name of the women that they know to further assert that this could not, in fact, happen to the women they know. Which is always, always a load of crap. We all saw that horrific picture (even though we never should have) — and that should be enough to kill someone’s career. That Chris Brown still walks about with a viable career is nothing but evidence of widespread misogyny. I hate the fact that a huge number of people think it’s okay to say, “Yeah. What Chris Brown did was wrong.” (This is THE point) but that she somehow deserved it. The fact of the matter is that NO ONE deserves that, no matter how wealthy they are (and especially no matter how wealthy their boyfriends are). You cannot batter the body of another. PERIOD. It doesn’t matter what kind of…um, “extreme” he feels he was pushed to verbally. You just don’t put people into headlocks and smack their faces. Why? Because it’s WRONG (regardless of who wrote what song).
I’d also like to add that a lot of women don’t report domestic violence and instead choose the route of fleeing to “shield shelters” as to why there are no previous reports. Additionally, Chris Brown is younger than Rihanna and this was admittedly the first ‘real’ (as in ideas about true love real) relationship for both parties. I’m actually pretty glad this is the first report about Chris Brown…I would be even more shocked and disgusted by a case in which someone younger than 20 beat the living crap out of their girlfriends (whether the parties involved were famous or not).

All the name calling, yelling and cursing is unnecessary, the real point to this whole mess is that there are people out here who loves Rihanna and people that love Chris. In one comment it was said that if you are going to go public, then tell the truth and I agree with this wholeheartedly. Why should either one of their careers be ruined if the talent is there. He was right to apologize, but even though I wasn’t there and I am a female, I know that given his history (what we are told is his history), he didn’t just blank out and start beating her. (I) believed that she provoked him and not just verbally, I wasn’t there I have no proof, but his life shouldn’t be over and his way to earn a living shouldn’t be stopped because of this mistake. Hopefully the both of them have learned a great lesson from all this, for one thing they are both young and to be committed to one person so young is not always realistic. No one has the right to hit on another person whether male or female, it is all wrong. Two wrongs will never make a right. Maybe we as fans can be a little bit more understanding on both sides without taking sides and hope and pray that something like this won’t happen again.

Wrong, Chris pled guilty to the evidence in the affidavit report. That means you have no other notion to contest against the prosecution. He is a convicted felon, end of story. This means he pled guilty to the police report used against him during the trial. We have all read the affidavit (police report). That and the pictures were used as evidence. When you pled guilty in a court hearing, you are pleading guilty to all the evidence used against you!
It also prevented him from going to trial with a jury, which would gurantee him 10 years in prison and no plea deal.

I’m a psychologist and I’ve been doing this for over 10 years now. I can see right through people, especially when they’re lying. And for the people who are speculating lies within Rihanna’s confession, are right. I’ve watched this interview a couple of times and I do sense some untruth in what she’s saying.
For most people who are saying she’s lying are misunderstood, cause to others it seems like they’re saying that it was right for him to abuse her, wich it was NOT. But there’s something this young woman is not telling us and that’s just fine but just remember that the Lord sees and hears everything. Applies to both Rihanna and Chris. But I do feel that Chris paid his dues, but who am I to judge.
Oh and one more thing. What really concerns me is that Rihanna refused to seek professional help after the altercation. She didn’t want to talk about it, with no one. I’ve dealed with that situation before with one of my clients. Believe me, women who are being abused are always looking for somebody to help them even if they don’t say or even deny it.
