D’Angelo Shines At Essence Music Festival 2012 (Video)

After twelve years in hibernation D’Angelo has returned to the stage and is readying a new album that could be made available later this year.

The soulful singer who appeared at the BET Awards last weekend, performed at the Essence Music Festival 2012 which is taking place in Louisiana.

Dressed in black leather with a black bandana around his locks, the singer who was accompanied by impressive live band sang old hits like “Devil’s Pie,” “Sh*t, Damn, Mother Fer,” “Untitled (How Does It Feel)” and gave his own rendition of Roberta Flack’s “Feel Like Makin’ Love” in order to please the many female fans who were in the audience drooling over every note.

The star also debuted few new songs included “Sugah Daddy,” “Ain’t That Easy” and “Really Love” (the song first surfaced in 2007 thanks to Questlove).

D is set to hit the road with Mary J. Blige this summer for a 20-date tour. Blige who talks about herself in the third person revealed:

“I felt like it would be refreshing and fun for people to see him and Mary J. Blige on the road together.”
