Rihanna New CD Underperforming – Controversies and major promotional tours are no longer synonymous of major record sales,because Rihanna’s “Rated R” album is failing.After all the interviews,the publicity,the name-brand producers, writers, and big budget music videos the Bajan singer is expected to sell a measly 200K in her first week.Her record is now on sale for 99 cents.Susan Boyle’s ‘I Dreamed a Dream’ is estimated to sell around 550,000 units and will be taking the top of the charts.

She promoted her cd on David Letterman, AMA, GMA, London live concert, radio interviews, magazine interviews, has a free upcoming concert and let us not forget the album signing at Best Buy. 200,000 copies is decent. Rihanna never expected this album to sell well anyway. It’s be best yet and she’s amazing. This is just one side of Rihanna. Crap, Rihanna DID expect this album to do well or she wouldn’t have been promoting it on every tv, radio and magazine interview. She has performed songs from the cd on GMA, David Letterman and AMA not to mention the concert in London and a upcoming free concert in NY. Her record company had adverstiment on Bet,so I don’t buy that crap, No they all expected it do do much better. Chris Brown song ” I Can Transform Ya’ and ” Crawl” has only had the help of the internet up until yesterday when BET start playing his adverstiment for his new cd “GRAFFITI” Yet, both are number 1 and 2 on itunes downloads,r&B, and he’s in the top 25 on billboard… maybe the difference here is talent = fashion icon! Ok. So for you that majored in music we know that Rihanna can sing. She isn’t the best and she isn’t the worst. Technically she is in tune and hitting her notes fir the songs. I’ve heard her live and basically she of course sounds better when singing slower songs. Remember she isn’t acwhitney but her voice is suited for her type of music which is pop. You don’t have to be the best singer for pop. Of course I’ve heard her sound terrible butvthat has happened to the best as well. I guess having two top ten singles since the release is a flop. “Russian Roulette” reached the #9 spot on the Billboard Hot 100, giving Rihanna her twelfth top ten single of her career, and “Hard” reached the #8 spot on the Billboard Hot 100, giving Rihanna her thirteenth top ten single on the chart. “Hard” also reached #1 on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart.. The album “RATED-R” was certified PLATINUM by the RIAA on January 8, 2010!!!! That’s LESS THAN 2 months since the album was released in late November!!!!!! HMMMMMMMMMM sure doesn’t sound like a flop to me! I guess we know one of the people Rihanna was talking about in her HIT SINGLE “Hard” when she says “Where dem bloggers at? Where dem bloggers at? Where they at? Where they at? Where they at?” HAHAHAHAHAHA

To AAS & KB : Lady Gaga came out as Lady GAGA : Provocative, sensual, etc..etc. She knows what she wants, don’t care about what people think about her & she’s a true creative artist. (my honest opinion)
Same thing with Alicia Keys (she knew who she was & what she can do & not do as an artist, etc…)
Rihanna is still musically searching herself. She’s more of a product with a big team surrounding her. I think she is still discovering who she is as “an artist”.

new said….its like you took the words right out of my mouth. I just look at her video for the song ” the wait is over” and i must say…WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO HER!!!! She’s just overly gothic….i mean what happened to the girl who sang “music of the sun” and “if its loving that you need”…..I miss her good girl side. Quuite frankly, am tired of rihanna now. These days i dont even give her music a chance….coz i know to expect less than from her.
