Sade Soldier Of Love Album Review – Soul music legend Sade is back with a new album titled “Soldier Of Love” that will be released on February 8, 2010 via Sony.This is Sade’s first release since 2000’s multi-platinum “Lovers Rock”.The CD is quite pleasant and well put together but Sade is not reinventing herself on it.Instead ‘Soldier Of Love’ is all about showcasing her strengths and solidifying her place in music.By choosing not to reinvent herself as a groundbreaking artist,Sade will please her old fans but I doubt she will conquer new ones.The album is mellow and musically enjoyable but on most of it Sade seems to put a distance between her and the listener as if there was some kind of mystery that she wanted to preserve.This behavior results in a disconnect between the artist and the music lover.Vocally the album is as good as it gets,and production wise it has all the flavors that made Sade a renown musician (she kept her old team.) Unfortunately it doesn’t really dig deep lyrically specially on “Be That Easy” where it is hard to forget the following line “It couldn’t be that easy/ It had to be much harder.” Additionally a song like “Babyfather” (the rumored second single from the LP) with a reggae vibe would have been better if the lyrics had more clarity to them.What can you get from “Your daddy knows you’re a fling” or “Your daddy don’t come with a lifetime guarantee,” only Sade really knows.
Overall Sade Soldier Of Love album is about an artist on top of her game,mindful of what she wants the world to see and in full control.The problem is that too much control will kill that ‘unexpected’ element often present on great CDs.I will have to give it a 3/5.

I believe that you’ve misunderstood the lyrics to the song Babyfather. To me it sounds like “Your daddy nows you’re a flame” and “Daddy love come with a lifetime guarantee”. Or was it the possible confusion the thing you were aiming at?
Anyways, to a Sade fan, who I definitely am, this album sounds as one of the Sade cla**ics, no reinventions here, just good old Sade.

I like the CD and the Babyfather song. I think Sade is telling the story to the child and how the child’s mom and dad met. One of those little secrets we don’t like to discuss in public – ‘Momma’s baby is Daddy’s maybe?’…Hence, ‘Your Daddy knows, you’re a fling’…

Sade,you cannot improve on perfection.Sade is always a cla** act,more sensual and beautiful and her own style that no one can imitate.Sade is my ultimate favorite female artist.When will the tour dates be announced..I can’t wait!

Love every song in the CD. For a new Sade fan, it really grows on me every time I listen to it and that’s been everyday at work and at home. WHAT A TREAT!
WOW… Sade, Soldier of Love is a HIT and 5 stars too. but there is one song i misunderstood is “Babyfather”.. The Album is WONDERFUL, GREAT, and AWESOME!!!!
